Flower Fields

As moms of toddlers, my friends and I like to sometimes think outside the local box and have little field trips. This time we ventured to the flower fields of Carlsbad. None of us had been there so it was new territory for us and the wee ones. I recommend it, as it's beautiful, keeps the attention of the kids (especially the park there) and would be great for picture taking, IF your babe cooperates. Allow me to demonstrate the candid side of things:

Easter!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Easter. Let's face it. I LOVE holidays. Any excuse to surround myself with friends and family I'm a fan. Festivities included, hunting Easter eggs at Pines park, dying eggs, going to church (the Church is SO true!), watching Bambi (a new tradition), hanging out with the Hennings/Beutlers (always a good time), eating delish Cindy food (Culinary goddess), and nursing back to health my invalid husband (pinched nerve in the back while surfing. . .good thing his friends were there to swim him in!) He's currently at the chiropractor getting his spine untwisted.Please don't judge the chocolate saliva coming out of P's mouth. I filled most of her eggs with trail mix, honest!! And brushed her teeth after. . .I think.

Wow, dry eyes really can cry! Cried like a baby during this. Happy tears, really. My dad has put his heart and soul into this song and video and I'm just thrilled to tears at how good it turned out. So proud of him and everyone involved for sticking with it--especially Carrie, and the Golden Nugget (It's hard playing the part of a molester's van, great acting Goldie!) It's amazing how songs like this can transport you to another dimension. Kinda like drugs, but more euphoric and healthy. I started thinking of all the revolutions I want to fight for, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, childhood obesity, drug smuggling, terrorism, hate, racism, GMOs, greedy governments, and of course every form of abuse. Then when the song was over, I took off my warrior paint and exhausted from the thought of fighting all of these wars, decided to start off by getting a good night sleep. Goodnight!

My friend Ani's little newborn is very sick with borderline liver failure. Please pray for her!

Ani's latest FB status update:

"Our sweet girl is scheduled for an exploratory surgery tomorrow at ten thirty. They will confirm if she has Biliary Atresia or not at that point. If she does, they will perform the Kasai procedure which will connect her small intestine to her liver. Please pray for our Ruby Jane. I know the power of prayer is real. We need all the powers of heaven on our side tomorrow."

Please please spend a moment to say a prayer for this sweet little girl.

I am not Martha Stewart, but getting closer

After talking with my friend Jill about how I almost NEVER complete my craft projects, I decided to prove myself wrong and finish an almost year long project. Well, I bought the fabric a year ago and haven't done a thing with it. . .until yesterday. I made six chair cushion covers! And they were surprisingly simple to make. I am by no means a perfectionist, so they aren't perfect, but I love them, imperfections and all.I started making straps out of the fabric, but it was too hard, so I just sewed on some jute.

I'm not very good at tutorials, but Martha is. I already had the seat cushions (-2 that I had to cut out of foam), so sewing a cover was all I did, but she shows how to make the actual cushion too. Love you M!
